What is a Domain Name


Just think of a Domain Name is an address where people can find you on the Internet through your own Internet address (eg: www.yourname.com). Several very well-known examples of domain names would be www.Google.com, MSN.com and Google.com. It's what comes after the www.

When you type "www.Google.com" domain name in any Browser program's (eg. Internet Explorer or Firefox) address bar it will bring you to Google.com website.

A domain name can have max. 63 characters excluding the extensions of "www" and "com/net/org...etc".

Not all characters in your keyboard is allowable to use in your domain name. Those recognized characters are alphabets, numbers and the hyphen " - ". Sorry to say that, characters like ("!,.#$_@") are disallowed. Domain name is not case sensitive so "www.YOURNAME.com" and "www.yourname.com" are treated the same.
